The Force only knows when we’ll eventually see Lucas’ highly-anticipated TV spin-off of Star Wars, so in the meantime we’ve compiled a list of the five storylines we’d like to see it tackle…
Seeing Jimmy Smits in full subversive mode would be a treat and certainly add a much deeper feel to the storyline when he has to balance Senatorial with seditious duties.
Birth Of The Rebellion
As the TV show will reportedly be set between Revenge Of The Sith and A New Hope, the birth of the Rebellion movement absolutely has to be shown on screen.
Soldiers Of Fortune
As a very early teaser poster of the live-action series showed Boba Fett’s helmet, we can assume that bounty hunters could well be central players. And we would love it.
Expanding the universe
Although unlikely given Lucas’ apparent lack of concern for the extended universe, it would be nice to see characters such as Talon Karrde appear.
Return of the Jedi
We cannot see any possible way that a Star Wars series would be completely free of Jedi, or indeed Sith. Exactly how they would fit in, though, is another question entirely.

We will likely seen none of these.
We may be treated to a passing Weequay in the background, however. Should be fun.
That’s right. A Weequay janitor on Courascant.
Those sound good, especially the bounty hunters and expanded universe characters. i think the storyline needs less jedi as with the prequels it’s been nothing but a jedi fest and the classic trilogy had barely any jedi. it needs to get back to the nitty gritty scifi used car look.
Why couldn’t we have simply been given an animated “Tales of the New Republic,” featuring the characters we actually give two craps about from the Original Trilogy?
what is the point of this? please sci-fi-now be better than this list feature crap. who is this aaron bloke who keeps uploading this bs?
Well i think most of these will be touched on in the show in one way or another. However do not expect to see many if any jedi except for the ones about to be slaughtered by one of Vader’s bounty hunters.
Think the Birth of the Rebellion part has already been told by the Force Unleashed video game. Maybe the series could pick up short after the event or something.
And for the Jedi part… I’ll say; no Jedi (or what’s left of them), no Star Wars! A possible decision not to tell the story aside a Jedi perspective would be quite boring. I personally can’t imagine Star Wars without a single Jedi or Lightsaber, so I’m quite curious how they think this series would be successful without a lightsaber duel from time to time.
I don’t see Organa or the major movers and shakers of the rebellion being involved in the show. Lucas has said the show will not follow the main characters of the movies at all. Basically Vader, Organa and Mon Mothma may be mentioned but will not appear.
As for the expanded universe, Lucas specifically told Dark Horse Comics that he wanted Vos to not die at the end of the Republic series so we may see him which would be great. He’s the best Prequel era expanded universe character imo. I wish we could see more EU characters but time will tell.
Fett as a main character or regular will be cool to see. Other than Fett I haven’t heard anything definite on the characters that will appear though. Has anyone heard anything more on that?
Definitely it would be awesome to see Talon Karrde in the flesh!!! But unfortunately I doubt that will happen. I have heard that there will be some bounty hunters that we may recognize though!
The only of these 5 storylines we are likely to see is bounty hunters. Lucas has stated that this live action show is not an extension of the main story of Star Wars and will instead concentrate on the underworld of the galaxy including bounty hunters and the like. Think “Sopranos” in space. He said the birth of the rebellion and the main characters from the movies will not be part of this though references to some things such as Vader will be mentioned but not actually seen.
1. What about Darth Vader? Seriously, he should be in the series hunting down remaining Jedi. After all it’s just a guy in a costume and James Earl Jone’s voice. Hayden Christensen could make an occasional guest appearance if Vader ever removes his helmet on screen.
2. Obi-Wan Kenobi. What the heck is this guy doing for 18 years?
3. Yoda. Don’t tell me he’s just living in a swamp getting old and useless for 18 years.
4. Young Luke. We know from the first movie that he knew who Obi-wan is, or at least who Ben is. That means that he had contact with him before the film. I want to see young Luke.
5. Young Han Solo. How did he become the scoundrel we all know and love? When did he meet Chewbacca? How did he meet Lando? Show me how he won the Falcon.
6. Young Leia. How does the rebellious princess come to be?
7. Palpatine’s complete rise to power. Remember in A New Hope he finally dissolves the senate which means that maybe they were puppets before, but many systems obviously spoke against him which is why the Death Star needed to be built.
I’m not sure what other things could be covered, but I think Han Solo needs to be a major player. He’s ten years older than Luke and Leia so he should be active during this time. I want to see Han Solo stories. This would be awesome! Han and Chewie again! Maybe even some Lando would be cool.
STAR WARS: REBEL ALLIANCE Fall 2010
In order for it to have the ‘Star Wars feel’ fans are familiar with, Vader has to be the central figure, regardless of whether or not we see him in any (if any) episodes.
As much as I love star wars! I have to admit, I think it will be a big mistake for not having Darth Vader and Boba Fett Hunting down the jedi and the formation of the rebellion. It would be the biggest Tv show ever with its built in fan base! But he wants to stay away from the skywalker story! Big mistake!!! And have it be like the sapranos with Jabba the hutt being the gangster of outer space! What the hell! He could have the greatest villian of all time on the little screen causing all sorts of trouble. And you don’t do it! I don’t understand why not! Oh well I guess nowadays fans don’t matter anymore!
If only Lucasfilm read the blogs. They would do well to incorporate all of these ideas. (except the passing Weequay!)
Story lines? Are you Serious? How many great to good to relatively decent STORY LINES did we watch the Star Wars Prequels bastardize with absolute poor writing and direction? Should we not first require what is most essential to a viable and worthwhile production? That obviously requires someone who can write a screenplay and direct! I truly want a script and vision that can bring the Star Wars universe back from the brink. Asking for Jimmy Smitts, EU, Jedi or Sith or Whatever is superficial, shallow and ultimately welcomes the same gross failures of the past. As fans, we should demand a fundamental change in which Star Wars is handled. The Prequels were mismanaged to the point of artistic and cinematic mutiny. In the future we must require a filmmaker who primarily loves the story and characters of Star Wars and will see computer generated images as a secondary component to the telling of the material. We must require much more of Lucasfilm if we will ever get the product in which we truly crave and desire. LONG LIVE STAR WARS
Actually MAtt…the Lucas camp has already confirmed well see Boba in the series, and that we will see the rise of the Rebellion. There have also been hints that well at least get some taste of the Empire hunting for surviving Jedi
I would think a mash of all five Ideas will be more like father george’s way of doing things. Seeing he signs off on any thing that has Star wars in it or on it.
This will be a first for all of us – ADULT Star Wars. I love the Clone Wars cartoons, but this is aimed at an older audience so all us fans in our late 30’s onwards will have a show that is also aimed at us. I am always concerned about expectation though. I am happy to see the stories the creators want to tell. As with Young Indy, it was nice to see a series that stuck to its guns and told the story it wanted to tell, not to just give in to what is popular (something that happens way too much), to create something new in a familiar place. Star Trek (as a whole), Babylon 5, Buffy, X-files and Battlestar also did this – that is why they became phenominons! Other TV series just copy one of those formats! Star Wars is Star Wars! Looking forward to it!!!!!
Will someone please just turn the Rogue Squadron novels into a live action TV show already? It’s just begging to be done. It could really almost write itself.
Grand Admiral Thrawn. Nuff said

RE: Most of these questions have already been answered.
1. The whole point is that Order 66 wiped out the Jedi order. The few remaining Jedi have been addressed through the novels. (”Dark Lord: The Rise of Darth Vader”, “Last of the Jedi Series”, “Coruscant Nights Trilogy”, “The Life and Legend of Obi-Wan Kenobi”, “The Rise and Fall of Darth Vader”) To keep creating more Jedi to be hunted down would completely diminish the story line of Revenge and the concept of order 66. The order wasn’t just to take out the key Jedi, but all of the Jedi. There have already been many post Order 66 executions.
2. Read “The Life and Legend of Obi-Wan Kenobi”
3. Good question
4. Read “The Life and Legend of Obi-Wan Kenobi”
5. Read the “Han Solo Trilogy”
6. Fairly good question, a lot which is answered in “The Force Unleashed”, as subtle as it may have been. Also the radio version of A “New Hope”.
7. The Death Star was already being planned in “Attack of the Clones”. They showed it in the movie on Geonosis. Also you can read “Death Star”. Also some of those questions answered in “Dark Lord: The Rise of Darth Vader”.
My thoughts. Knowing George Lucas, there will probably be 3 or 4 different story lines going on at the same time. I think 1 will most certainly be focused on bounty hunters. 1 will probably be on some new and remote planet with whole new characters and 1 will probably focus on the status of the galaxy and the rise of the empire; directly or subtly. I think we will here about the emperor, Vader, the senate, Jedi and all of the familiar things we know but probably not directly. If there is a Jedi, I think they will be in the sense of 1 in hiding based on the “Dark Lord: The Rise of Darth Vader”. I doubt we would see the Jedi using light sabers but again probably on a remote planet. To go a step further, we would probably be introduced to a character and find out deep into the season or in a season finally that he/she was a Jedi. One thing is for sure, George Lucas usually flies with his own ideas when it comes to the Star Wars universe but he also does include some fan favorites. Example: Including Chewbacca, Millennium Falcon, Quinlan Voss in Revenge.
No matter what happens, it will be successful because Star Wars fans will eat it up. Regardless if the story line is cheesy. But think of this, George Lucas will NEVER be able to live up to people’s expectations or make everyone happy. There will always be critics and there will always be the faithful fans.
The original working title of Revenge of the Sith was Rise of the Empire. I think Lucas will save this name for the live action series in the Fall of 2011 when it premieres on HBO.
EWOKS! How about an indepth look at their culture, lifestyles and history? These little fellas have a lot to offer and I can’t understand why no one has thought to mention this before? Also it’d be great to see how Jar Jar Binks manages after the events of ROTS.
I for one would like to see something akin to the HBO ‘Rome’ TV show coming into play.
A storyline that plays out more of Palpatine’s rise to full power, his handling of the senate, and subjugation of rebel territories. I think Rome was hugely successful in this as it balanced personality of lead characters against a huge sweeping storyarc.
If Star Wars TV manages something like this, I’d be happy. With huge space battles of course.
As for EU aspect, I’d absolutely love this, as it would introduce Mara Jade, Talon Karrde, Garm Bel Iblis and of course Grand Admiral Thrawn! Lucas has such a rich tapestry to draw from from the EU, yet I sense he’s perhaps too bloody minded to include characters created by others into ‘his vision’.
One can only hope he has strong advisors and writers around him with the balls to ‘rock up’ with these kind of things.
I seriously want to play Kyle Katarn in the live-action series. I want the fans to see Kyle stealing the Death Star 1 plans from the Galactic Empire and retreating to the Rebellion to deliver the plans to Senator Mon Mothma and Senator Bail Organa (Princess Leia’s adopted father) on Alderaan.
Live-Action Series? It could be good; however, might fail with only minor characters from the Prequel Trilogy. If it features Jar-Jar Binks then it will really suck.
STAR WARS Episode VII,VIII,IX!!!
Nuff said.
Not to have Darth Vader(in his prime) in this show(at least some episodes) would be the greatest crime in the galaxy!

Weequay janitors and human-roasting Ewoks!
This is gonna be interesting.
I want to see the Expanded Universe more than anything. As a kid I was a huge fan of Kevin J. Anderson and Rebecca Moesta’s “Young Jedi Knights” book series. They revolved around Han and Leia’s teenager twins, Jacen and Jaina, and their friends at Luke’s Jedi Academy. I always thought the series would make an awesome TV show… that’s just my two cents.

I am very much looking forward to seeing what they come up with. While the list has some of the over-arching themes, I would love to see stories behind some of the really cool stuff that made us all love the original Star Wars. Here are some of my ideas:
- Seeing the Bothans steal the secrets for the death star – that would be a cool arc that could run through the entire story line
- Incom develop the X-Wing and then leave the Empire to give the starfighter to the rebellion
- Vader hunting down the remaining Jedi spread out throughout the galaxy. The best bit is that Vader doesn’t even need to talk, he could just go around like the terminator all bad-ass and full of the dark side.
- Corellians! They build the best space freighters and vessels and some of the key characters in the original trilogy – Han Solo, Wedge Antilles to name a couple. Even Dengar the bounty hunter is from Corellia. I would love an interesting plot twist along the lines of the second generation of clones (i.e. the Stormtroopers) being based off of a new genetic host – Dengar (he does wear the armour after all). That could go a long way to explaining how the went from being kick-ass to being cannon fodder. After all Dengar does not stack up at all compared to Fett (the All-Black).
- Slavery of the wookies and how some of them break out from their captivity.
- The growing of the rebellion, to include aliens from other planets and systems including the Mon Calamari, the Sullustans, the Ishi Tib, the Bothans, etc. This would expand the universe for me by the very nature of the new locales that we haven’t seen anywhere other than in cartoons and comics.
I would also like to see the expansion of some of the other minor characters. We have people like:
- Captain Raymus Antilles, who is Bail Organa’s right hand man and also captain of the Corellian Corvette that Leia commands to steal the secrets of the Death Star. He is the owner of R2-D2 and C-3PO until the two of them fall into the hands of Luke and Obi-Wan. He could have many subversive adventures
- Some of the Rebel and Imperial officers. People such as Carlist Rieekan, Crix Madine, Maximilian Veers, and (captain/admiral) Piett.
- Some of the kick-arse females like Aurra Sing and Mara Jade. I would love to see them in action because Star Wars needs more chics who play decent parts in the script. They could expand on Juno Eclipse and her ongoing adventures.
- Other expanded universe characters who have become legendary – Dash Rendar, Kyle Katarn, Grand Admiral Thrawn! Grand Admiral Thrawn would be wicked and a whole group of Imperials from Chiss would look wicked in action.
Anyways, these are my thoughts. They could really do some cool stuff, but I am not keen on some of the lame stories that the Clone Wars have run. I agree with one of the persons above who said that thelive TV show should be for the adults!

I would like to see the starting moments and evolution of the rebellion. For instance would I like to see one or a couple of episodes on how Biggs Darklighter attends the imperial academy and later, with some friends that he’s made, joins the rebellion.

Great post! I’ll subscribe right now wth my feedreader software!
I wonder how they will make it work with the Force Unleashed I thought that already covered the birth of the rebellion.I do think it would be cool to have Boba Fett on it and give some insight of where he was and what happend to him inbetween the movies.
