I run a website filled with reviews of graphic novels. Using the magic of Google Analytics, I can reveal that movies definitely create enormous spikes of traffic on comics websites. Some of that will translate into sales, though I suspect many turn up just for the information too. So yes, I think source material is sought out.

It certaintly worked that way for me,I love comic book movies especially Spider-Man 2,X-Men 2,Batman (1989) The Dark Knight,The Incredible Hulk,Blade,Iron Man,Daredevil,Punisher: War Zone,The Crow & many more.
Anyway I can remember back in the summer of 2003 when I saw the excellent X-Men 2 & the really boring Hulk film from Ang Lee,and from that moment on I began collecting Marvel & DC back issues & trade paperbacks.
I've been an avid reader ever since.

I love superhero movies especially Spider-Man 2, Iron Man, Incredible Hulk and Batman. I am looking forward to Thor aswell as Kick Ass, and I would love to start reading the comics. I am a big fsn of 2000ad, and even though I am 29, I am not afraid to take it out at work and read it like I did today!

The problem is where to start. For instance, I will seek out Ultimate Spider-Man Vol. 1, but what about Iron Man and indeed Batman? I shall start with these two and hopefully some people can suggest to me what to go for...

After seeing The Dark Knight, I went and bought Batman: Year One. That led to me reading a whole bunch of other Batman graphic novels and eventually a bunch of other titles. It opened up a whole new world for me and I love reading them now.
