Comic book sales dropped by 17.3% in May, according to Diamond US figures, as published by ICv2. Marvel’s big summer event ‘Fear Itself’ lost 32,000 readers with its second issue but still beat the first issue of ‘Flashpoint’, DC’s event. The second issue of ‘Fear Itself’ sold 96,318 vs ‘Flashpoint’s 86,981. Other big sellers in the charts were the Green Lantern books and the highly-recommended Batman Incorporated.
Of course, the biggest shake-up to the charts will come in September with the release of 52 new issue ones from DC. Will DC be able to wrestle the market dominance from Marvel?
