Buffy’s Danny Strong to write Hunger Games: Mockingjay

Jonathan actor Danny Strong has signed onto write parts 3 and 4 of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay

Remember that episode of Buffy where geek Jonathan becomes a media sensation with calendars and screaming fangirls? Well now that dream is getting close to becoming a reality for actor Danny Strong, who recently won an Emmy for his writing on HBO’s Game Change.

He’s now reported to be penning the finale of The Hunger Games, based on the third book by Suzanne Collins, titled Mockingjay. It will be split into two parts – like most literary adpatations these days – which are currently expected for release on 21 November 2014 and 20 November 2015.

It will be a difficult task to keep the films as child-friendly as the first instalment, directed by Gary Ross, since the last book contains plenty of grisly moments. The second film, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, is shooting now in Hawaii under the direction of I Am Legend‘s Francis Lawrence.
