In The Hobbit: Desolation Of Smaug, Bilbo will be going up against the fire-breathing treasure-hoarder Smaug, played by Benedict Cumberbatch.
Sherlock himself will be putting in a mo-cap performance, which looks pretty intense according to these behind-the-scenes photos, courtesy of Flickr user Tolkiennerd.
They’re in fact screenshots taken from ‘The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey’ Extended Edition revealinghow Cumberbatch brought the dragon to life, even getting down on all fours. That’s some feat of imagination, especially while dressed in tracksuit bottoms and sporting a face full of little dots!
Still, the actor looks convincingly ‘in the zone’, bellowing and bearing his teeth. You can check out the results of his efforts in a couple of months’ time.
